Ailene Kane Rogers was named Environmentalist of the Year for the town of Huntington, New York. She was honored for her work on water quality monitoring in Long Island Sound in her area, a concept that led to a "Water Logging" program that educates seniors in the local marine/environmental issues and teaches them to monitor water from docks and boats through the Cornell Cooperative Extension program. During their 45th-reunion trip Barbara Hart Decker accompanied Ailene on two of her weekly collections.
