Hamming it up with fake injuries during freshman year, in Battell North:  l-r, Sandy Yeomans,  Cynthia Haver, Jeanette McIntosh, Carol Sippel, and Lucy Paine. About this picture, Cynthia Haver Rigas writes, "My broken ankle was fake like all the rest. Yes, I used crutches--even walked all the way downtown to go to the movies we had to be seen– not sit in the dorm, and was sore for days afterwards. We pulledthis silly stunt to see if we could get the same attention the truly injured were getting."

Palace of Versailles, August 27, 1960: Nancy Smoller, Mary Greenwood (Mt. Holyoke '59, M.A., Midd, '60), Nancy McKnight, and Lucy Paine. Nancy and Mary, both Fulbright Scholars, earned Middlebury M.A. degrees at the Sorbonne during academic year '59-'60. Nancy McKnight and Lucy joined them during summer vacations in France.
