International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) provides accurate, timely and knowledgeable U.S. immigration and visa-related support and advising to international students and scholars who participate in Middlebury's extensive year-round programs. We facilitate the process of bringing students, staff, and faculty from around the world to study and work at Middlebury College, the Monterery Institute of International Studies (MIIS), and our summer programs.
ISSS creates and offers programs and services that assist and guide international students, scholars and their dependents to foster a rewarding experience in a supportive environment. We also inform and educate colleagues about the procedures associated with enrolling and hiring international students and scholars. ISSS actively supports Middlebury's commitment to international education.
ISSS manages the College’s involvement in the U.S. government’s Student & Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) as well as institutional compliance with related immigration regulations. We also coordinate Middlebury College's Early Arrival for international students and the Friends of International Students (FIS) host program. ISSS serves as a place of support for U.S. students who have lived abroad or immigrated to the United States.
Together, Middlebury and MIIS employ approximately 350 international faculty and staff members in our year-round programs. We enroll more than 250 international undergraduates and more than 200 international graduate students from more than 75 countries. In addition, many international students attend the Language Schools as well as MIIS's Intensive English and short-term programs.
