Shokry Gohar is a Senior Faculty Lecturer and Arabic Language Program Director at McGill University.  He has extensive experience in teaching Arabic as a foreign and second language. Since 1992, He has taught Arabic in different institutes and language instruction environments, both in immersion and non-immersion programs, in Egypt, the USA and Canada. He has been teaching Arabic at the Institute of Islamic Studies at McGill University since August 2005. In 2013, he received his MA in Applied Linguistics from Concordia University.

Shokry Gohar and his colleague David Nancekivell Published two textbooks for teaching Modern Standard Arabic for non-native speakers. The first textbook spans the beginner and lower intermediate level while the second textbook spans the lower to the higher intermediate level. In addition to the two Modern Standard Arabic textbook, he published a textbook of Egyptian Colloquia Arabic, which can be found on the main webpage of Cambridge University press.
