HEBM3101 - Beginning Hebrew      

This course sequence is designed for students with no previous classroom instruction or functional ability in Modern Hebrew. Most students completing this course sequence will be able to initiate, sustain, and close a conversation dealing with familiar topics, and will be able to write short narratives and read authentic texts based on specific reading strategies. The majority of students completing this level usually achieve Intermediate levels in all four language skills. LNG

HEBM3200 - Int Hebrew Lifelong Learners      

Hebrew for Lifelong Learners

This three-week course combines a curriculum designed specifically for Lifelong Learner students who have already acquired the basic foundation of Hebrew and wish to be immersed in the rigorous immersion environment of the Middlebury Language Schools and the Language Pledge. Our focus will be on all four language skills. The immersive environment allows learners to strengthen their speaking abilities, as well as rapid mastery of Modern Hebrew grammar and vocabulary. By the end of three weeks, it is anticipated that students will be able to create narratives with a focus on personal stories using all tenses, as well as ask informative questions to create other people’s narratives. This narrative will be documented so we can share the journey and have data on each student’s progress.

Hebrew for Lifelong Learners

This three-week course combines a curriculum designed specifically for Lifelong Leaners through the rigorous immersion environment of the Middlebury Language Schools and the Language Pledge. Our focus will be on all four language skills. The immersive environment allows leaners to strengthen their speaking abilities. As well, the spoken language encourages rapid mastery of Modern Hebrew grammar and vocabulary. By the end of three weeks, it is anticipated that students will be able to compare, contrast and express opinions on an advanced level. In addition, students will create narratives with a focus on personal stories using all tenses as well as asking informative questions to create other people’s narratives. This narrative will be documented so we can share the journey and have data on each student’s progress..

HEBM3301 - Intermediate Hebrew II      

Students enrolling in this sequence will have a proficiency level of at least "intermediate-mid" according to the ACTFL proficiency guidelines. Students will continue to strengthen their knowledge of grammatical and syntactical structures and will continue to master the language while increasing vocabulary through extensive reading. Students completing this sequence will emerge with a proficiency level of "advanced-low" or "advanced-mid" depending on motivation, effort, and diligence.
