Network Security Philosophy
Middlebury College will maintain a secure posture across its network. At all times, it will use best practices to ensure that it stays in compliance with and where possible exceeds the requirements of State, Federal, and local law. Understanding that security threats are constantly evolving and changing, Middlebury will strive to keep its security efforts current and in support of the mission of the institution.
To this end, Middlebury College will employ:
- Network monitoring to identify threats in a
proactive manner - Incident response best practices to maintain
forensic integrity and privacy of data - Risk management to identify and mitigate risk across
the institution - Vulnerability management to maintain and manage
services - Current privacy practices in compliance with legal
and regulatory standards and College policy - Policy and standard reviews to ensure that
security practices comply with our policies - Education and awareness efforts as a core component
of the security program
