Areas of Expertise
Technology Support: These are the people who work with our community on a daily basis, with dedicated teams that provide comprehensive digital solutions and support across all of our campuses. From responding to your technology needs at the Technology Helpdesk to helping with Audio Visual Integration in classrooms, performance venues, and anywhere else you need digital support, we ensure a seamless digital environment with efficiency and expertise.
Enterprise Web Services: This is your web team, providing support and guidance on issues related to web development and content management of all Middlebury Drupal websites. With a focus on accessibility, training, and editor support, we partner with departments and offices to develop, implement, and maintain websites and web applications consistent with the Middlebury brand.
Information Security: This group works to responsibly keep your information and our institutional assets digitally safe. We support and guide Middlebury on issues related to information security, risk management, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. From phishing alerts to multifactor authentication to security threats, we work diligently to bring the latest information and innovations to our community.
Enterprise Architecture and Planning: This team prioritizes strategic and comprehensive initiatives to optimize and align Middlebury’s technology landscape with the institutional objectives. We work closely with all of our departments and offices to manage technology services and ensure that those services meet compliance requirements and standards including security, privacy, accessibility, and architectural fit. We also conduct assessments to identify opportunities for improvement.
Enterprise Reporting, Data, and Analytics: This group provides data-driven insights and facilitates informed decision-making across the institution. Working closely with other ITS service areas, they strategically collect, organize, and analyze data from various sources to create customized reports for various stakeholders, including administrators, faculty, and staff. These reports cover areas such as enrollment trends, financial performance, student outcomes, and institutional effectiveness. Ensuring data accuracy, security, and compliance is a priority.
Infrastructure Services: This group provides support and guidance across all of Middlebury’s campuses on issues related to network, server, and storage infrastructure. We manage and maintain Middlebury’s data centers, servers, storage systems, and networks to ensure availability, reliability, and security. When necessary, we provide support and troubleshooting for network and server issues, including disaster recovery and continuity planning.
Application Development and Integration: This team develops and maintains Middlebury’s custom web applications and tools—like Banner and Oracle—and the integration of those technologies. We also partner with departments and offices to provide guidance and support for integrating third-party applications and services—such as SalesForce, Handshake and PowerBI—to ensure compliance with web accessibility standards and best practices consistent with Middlebury’s standards.
Finance and Contracting: This team is focused on the financial management, procurement, and contracting related to the technology systems at Middlebury. We partner closely with Middlebury constituents to ensure that such financial transactions, vendor relationships, and contract negotiations are conducted in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
