Information Security Philosophy

LIS Information Security will maintain a secure posture across the institution. LIS Information Security will employ best practices to ensure that the Institution stays in compliance and where possible exceed the requirements of State, Federal, and local law. Information Security will strive to keep its security efforts current and in support of the mission of the institution.

To this end, Information Security will use the following approach:

• Education: maintaining a comprehensive security education program aimed at reaching the entire Middlebury community.
• Architecture: assessing, designing, and introducing new technologies and solutions to address security needs across the institution
• Technology: offering technical solutions for the desktop, network, and servers to address security needs.
• Governance: developing, influencing, and contributing to policy for infrastructure, and data security.
