Internships and Credit
Credit bearing internships are only offered in Paris.
Students will participate in workshops organized through EUSA France, our internship placement partner, on topics such as how to prepare for the interview in French and how to market their internship experience on their CV before being placed in their internship site.
Student interns will be required to fulfill the following in the target language, unless otherwise specified:
- Work 16 hours a week for eight weeks.
- Complete an independent research paper (15-20 pages not including a bibliography and appendices) that will be graded by a faculty member on site.
- Keep a daily journal of internship activity that records assignments given, tasks completed, and personal impressions.
- Meet periodically with an assigned academic advisor for the duration of the internship
- Deliver an oral presentation at the end of the internship activity.
- Submit a 1-2 paragraph summary description of the internship (in English) that may be posted on our webpage.
- Complete a feedback form at the end of the internship.
Interns will earn credit equal to that of a regular course for the internship and take one less class that semester compared to the normal course load. Students may not take the normal full load of courses for their site AND also receive academic credit for their internship. Internships will receive a letter grade. Interns are not allowed to receive any payment or other financial support from their internship hosts.
* Students from institutions other than Middlebury will need preapproval from their home institution in order to receive credit for an internship.
In Poitiers, STEM students have the possibility to complete a research project with a laboratory component at the end of the spring semester. For more information, click here.
