Although students do not register for courses until they arrive in Uruguay, course information is available on each university’s website.

You should use these listings as guides to the types of courses that will be available and as a basis for discussion with your academic advisors.

In addition to three or four university courses and the option of an internship, students are required to take Writing for Linguistic and Cultural Competence during their first term of study.

Those who are interested in a more specialized approach to their time abroad may wish to consider the Architectural Studies track.

Universidad Católica del Uruguay

Founded in 1985, a few days after the country was returned to democratic rule, the Universidad Católica del Uruguay is a private institution that has complex historical roots dating back to the first Jesuit educational institution founded in Uruguay during the late seventeenth century. While standing firmly in the Jesuits’ long history of providing alternative forms of education in Uruguay, La Católica was designed to be complementary to the sole university authorized by the Uruguayan constitution, La República. La Católica has a full range of social science disciplines, and is also very strong in business, engineering, and the medical sciences.
