Jorge de Arco

Professor Jorge de Arco holds a PhD in Spanish Language and Literature from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and a BA in German Language and Literature from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He has worked for Hamilton College as a Creative Writing professor and is a Spanish Language professor at the University of San Diego, in Madrid. He has taught for several American University programs in Spain including Boston University, University of Texas at Austin, University of Iowa, Boston College, Tufts University, Skidmore College, and others. His teaching is focused on Spanish and Latin American Literature of the 20th and 21st century, with a special focus on poetry.

He is the author of ten poetry books and has won numerous awards in this genre. He is a literary critic and has translated English, German and Italian poetry into Spanish. Since 2004, he is the Editor of the poetry magazine “Piedra del Molino”.
