COVID-19 Updates: Fall Semester

Services Offered

*If you are studying from out-of-state, please see Remote Study Resources.

Individual Counseling

Counseling offers short-term individual therapy to support the mental health of students. We do the best we can to meet the needs of as many students as possible, so we offer concise sessions (25 minutes) and short-term therapy that is catered to meet your needs. We have also expanded our Same Day availabilty to help students in the moment they need it. There is no session limit. See Scheduling an Appointment if you are interested in Individual Counseling.

Group Counseling

Group Counseling offers the opportunity for a small number of students to get together (albeit remotely) and gain new insights and skills, under the guidance of one of our counselors. Our group offerings vary by semester and student need. Please see Group Counseling for more information.

Referral to Psychiatric Care

We contract with the Counseling Services of Addison County to provide medication management and psychiatric care for our students. If you are interested in this service, please read the information on our Psychiatric Referral webpage and set up a session with one of our counselors. If your request for psychiatric care is related to ADHD, please also see ADHD Diagnosis and Treatment.

Referral to Local Providers

Counseling maintains an ongoing relationship with many providers in the greater Middlebury area. If you are interested in establishing a counseling relationship with a clinician off-campus, we can help you with the process. This is a great option for those looking for consistent, regular counseling and long-term care during the duration of their years at the college.

We strive to serve the consultation needs of the entire Middlebury College community. We are available to students, staff, faculty, administrators, parents, family, and friends to assist with student-related mental health concerns.

We firmly belief in our role as advocates. We can help students find resources on campus and connect with other offices, and we will support their requests for accommodations or other services. We believe that advocacy is fundamental to counseling and integrate it into all of our therapeutic relationships as appropriate.
