Upon leaving my job in Labor and Delivery in Syracuse, NY, where I did my RN training at St. Joseph's Hospital and Crouse-Irving Memorial Hospital, they asked me, "what will you do in Vermont?" I said, hmmm, maybe I'll work for a college. Two years later, in July 1988, I did just that. 26 years later I'm still here - proving this is a pretty good gig! Prior to nursing, I received an AAS in Med Lab Technology at SUNY Morrisville and a BS in Health Education from SUNY Cortland.
My job description as Administrative Director of Parton Center for Health and Wellness includes administrative and operational duties focused on integrative health care, Health Services staff management, and much-too-occasional direct patient care. I am a Vermont-trained SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner).
I love the energy and insight and appreciate the vulnerabilities of our college-aged population. It's a delight to watch them grow and change in their 4-year tenure at Middlebury. I hope I make at least a tiny positive difference in the lives I touch - they certainly do that for me.
Tom and I make our home in Starksboro. Jesse and Emily are my two grown-up daughters. I'm very happy when I'm baking, cooking, gardening, and (my new distraction) drawing - and more happy when doing it all side-by-side with my granddaughter, Stella. Anybody else out there a "Fringe" fan?
