Health and Wellness Courses for New Students

Middlebury College is committed to the health and safety of its students and to building a supportive, respectful community. To begin this process, we utilize online educational tools to provide pre-matriculation education and resources to all new students.

Prior to arrival on campus/to a program, all incoming students are required to complete the Think About It Part I and United Educators Show Some Respect courses that address alcohol, drugs, relationships, sexual violence, bystander intervention, and harassment. Many incoming students have already had some critical conversations on these topics, while others may be exploring them for the first time.  Regardless of prior trainings or coursework, Middlebury requires all students to complete the two identified courses.

Middlebury focuses on these topics because both national and local data suggest that they are areas of heightened risk for new students on campus and because national and local law dictates that this information is provided to all new members of our campus community. The online courses provide students with a foundation of knowledge, language, and tools that will be used to continue conversations about these important issues during orientation and throughout the rest of your Middlebury career.
