Samir Jaafar, Ph.D, Director of the school in Morocco

Samir Jaafar received his doctorate in Linguistics specializing in Applied Linguistics of Technology and Communication in 2012. While working on his Ph.D., and thereafter, he has taught Arabic and administered programs at a number of universities, language centers, and study abroad programs in Morocco.  He was a co-founder of a linguistics magazine called Communication and Discourse Analysis in 2014. In 2015, he trained graduate students in teaching Arabic as a foreign language at Mohammed V University. He comes to us, most recently, from AMIDEAST where he served as the Arabic Coordinator for their programs in Rabat.

Achraf Guaad, B.A., Resident Coordinator of the School in Morocco

Achraf graduated from Muhammed V University with a degree in English Language and Culture, and later obtained a second BA in Teaching Pedagogy. He has taught Arabic to non-native speakers at several institutes in Morocco, and also at Al-Akhawayn University.  He briefly taught Arabic at George Mason University, as a Fulbright fellow, and helped to promote the teaching of Arabic in the local high schools in the Fairfax, VA area, as well.  In previous positions, Achraf has led student excursions in Morocco, and as the Resident Coordinator he is eager to help students settle in, enjoy their time in Morocco, and discover Rabat, as well as other parts of the Maghreb.
