Deirdre Heekin ’89 has been recognized as one of the 2023 Drinks Innovators of the Year by Food & Wine. Her organic winery, La Garagista, which Heekin runs with her husband Caleb Barber ’88, is credited with putting Vermont wines on the map. Meanwhile, earth and climate science professor Jeff Munroe is expanding the science of terroir by using a new analytical framework to pinpoint how environmental factors affect the resulting wine.
