Everything you hear, see, or read about an organization contributes to your overall impression of its identity—your sense of what the organization is, what it does, and what it stands for.

Consistent design helps us present Middlebury clearly in our communications. We live in a world where time is at a premium and people are increasingly visually focused. Every communication—from the website to an invitation or sign—creates an impression. We want that impression to reflect Middlebury’s identity in a consistent manner that sets us apart.

Our graphic identity system promotes a consistent approach in appearance and content in Middlebury’s internal and external communications. The goal is that anyone receiving a communication from the Admissions Office, the Bread Loaf School of English, the Rohatyn Center, the Middlebury Institute, or any other part of the institution will immediately recognize a Middlebury connection.

Middlebury Identity Manual

Middlebury’s visual identity manual provides guidelines for presenting our integrated system of graphic elements to both internal and external audiences.

These guidelines exist to support users across the institution, including all programs and schools, in the consistent and effective representation of Middlebury’s unified identity—from printed materials to visual presentations to the various institutional websites.
