Fall Student Involvement Fair
The annual Student Involvement Fair not only provides students with an opportunity to learn about all of the amazing student organizations on campus, it is also a chance for students to connect with community organizations looking for student volunteers!
Are you a student looking for connections with community organizations you care about? Come to the Student Involvement Fair!
Local non-profit organizations table at the annual fall Student Involvement Fair, and it’s a great chance to find and connect with an organization you may want to get involved in! Can’t make the Fair? All of our Fair attendees register their volunteer opportunities in the United Way of Addison County’s volunteer portal.
As you consider getting involved in the community, we have created some guidance for you to consider when choosing how to engage in work you care about. Check out our guidance on our page Choosing Your Place - A Guide to Thoughtful Service.

The Student Involvement Fair has grown substantially over the last few years! To address this growth, we work with Student Activities and partner with the United Way of Addison County to focus the event on opportunities for student involvement experiences. We want to ensure that students who attend will be looking to become actively involved, and are seeking connections to experiences. We also know that many students have schedule conflicts with the Fair, and we want to ensure that information about opportunities to get involved is available beyond the event. To these ends, we are excited about this partnership with the United Way to connect fair participation and recruitment with opportunities listed through their online Volunteer Center.
What do I need to do to participate at the Fair?
This event is focused on connecting students with experiences and has limited capacity; as such it is important for participating organizations to have clearly identified participatory opportunities to share. To facilitate this, and to ensure that information is also available to students who miss the event, we are asking that you have the volunteer opportunity(ies) you wish to share with students posted on the United Way of Addison County Volunteer Center website prior to registering to participate. If you don’t have specific experience opportunities to share with students, please review and consider some of the other ways to connect with the College community below.
Once you have posted your opportunity on the UWAC Volunteer Center site, you can proceed to register to table at the Fair!
Haven’t posted an opportunity on the UWAC site yet? Not sure how to do that? We can help! Reach out to Amy Hoekstra to learn more about posting your opportunities with UWAC!
I’m not sure the Fair is the right venue for us, are there other ways my organization can connect with the College?
Not sure you have a specific role to share, but want to connect with students and staff at the College? We can help with that as well! The Middlebury College Center for Community Engagement (CCE) can work with you to identify opportunities and connections that are most appropriate for your work and your goals! Contact me to discuss what might work best for your organization.
Some examples of ways that community organizations connect with students, faculty and staff at the College to partner and advance their work are:
- Partnering with students and faculty by listing projects, research and other collaborative opportunities for experiential learning through the Middlebury Liberal Arts in Action online project-sharing platform.
- Working with students in the Center for Community Engagement’s Community-Connected Learning (CCL) class on a semester-long project.
- Have a project? Complete this form!
- Questions? Reach out to Spring 2025 Instructor Jason Duquette-Hoffman, jduquettehoffman@middlebury.edu.
- Listing a job, or summer or winter term (January) internship opportunity with the Middlebury College Center for Careers and Internships.
- Getting help with larger, one-time group projects from the MiddVolunteers student organization or a Middlebury athletics team. For more information about this, contact Jason Duquette-Hoffman, jduquettehoffman@middlebury.edu.
- Posting updates and opportunities in the regular Center for Community Engagement e-mail newsletter. Reach out to Shannon McClain, smcclain@middlebury.edu.
