The annual Student Involvement Fair provides students with an opportunity to learn about all of the amazing student organizations on campus, as well as connect with local community organizations looking for student volunteers!

How It Works

The Fall Student Involvement Fair is an annual event that generally occurs during the third week of September each year. This event is an opportunity for students of all grade levels to explore co-curricular activities at Middlebury and in the local community. All active Clubs at Middlebury, in addition to approximately 20 community organizations, attend the Fair to provide information on ways to get involved.

For Students

Are you a student looking for connections with community organizations you care about?

Our 14+ student-led Community Engagement Organizations in addition to 15+ local non-profit organizations, table at the annual fall Student Involvement Fair each year. This event is a great chance to find and connect with a cause and organization(s) you may want to get involved in!

Check back closer to the event to see a list of community organizations that will be attending this year’s event.

Can’t make the Fair? All of our Fair attendees register their volunteer opportunities in the United Way of Addison County’s volunteer portal. You can find many ways to get involved in the local community.

As you consider getting involved in the community, we have created some guidance for you to consider when choosing how and with whom to engage in work you care about. Check out our guidance on our page A Guide to Thoughtful Service.

Are you a student leader of a Community Engagement Organization looking to table at the Student Involvement Fair?

The Student Activities Office (SAO) handles student organization registration for the Student Involvement Fair. When you complete the re-registration process for student organizations at the end of the spring semester, you will indicate whether or not you want your organization to participate in the fall Student Involvement Fair. SAO will communicate with you directly about details related to the event, including when you should arrive and where you should go when you arrive.

  • If you want to confirm your registration or have other questions about the Fair related to tabling, reach out to Annie Delehanty (adelehanty@middlebury.edu) at SAO.

Looking for old marketing materials for your Community Engagement Organization, or want supplies to create new materials?

We can help!

The CCE stores old materials from previous Student Involvement Fair at our office at 26 Blinn Lane. We also have supplies, including large trifold posters, for you to create new marketing materials.

  • Reach out to your CCE advisor for more information about accessing these materials.

For Community Organizations

Are you a community organization looking to connect with Middlebury students?

Community organizations are invited to table at the Student Involvement Fair each year. This event is one of the biggest student events of the year, attended by hundreds of Middlebury College students of all grade levels. This event is a great chance to find and connect with passionate students who may want to volunteer with a local organization!

The Student Involvement Fair has grown substantially over the last few years! To address this growth, we work closely with the Middlebury Student Activities Office and partner with the United Way of Addison County to focus the event on opportunities for student involvement experiences.

We want to ensure that students who attend will be looking to become actively involved and are seeking connections to experiences. We also know that many students have schedule conflicts with the Fair, and we want to ensure that information about opportunities to get involved is available beyond the event. To these ends, we are excited about this partnership with the United Way to connect fair participation and recruitment with opportunities listed through their online Volunteer Center!

How to Participate at the Fair

This event is focused on connecting students with experiences and has limited capacity; as such it is important for participating organizations to have clearly identified participatory opportunities to share. To facilitate this, and to ensure that information is also available to students who miss the event, we ask that you follow these steps to register to table at the Student Involvement Fair:

  1. Post the specific volunteer opportunity(ies) you wish to share with students on the United Way of Addison County Volunteer Center website.
    1. Not sure how to post an opportunity on the UWAC site? We can help! Reach out to Amy Hoekstra (amyh@unitedwayaddisoncounty.org) to learn more about posting your opportunities with UWAC!
    2. If you don’t have specific experience opportunities to share with students, please review and consider some of the other ways to connect with the College community below.
  2. Once you have posted your opportunity on the UWAC Volunteer Center site, you can proceed to register to table at the Fair!
    1. More information will follow your registration as the event approaches.
    2. If you have any questions about Fair registration or the event itself, please contact Jason Duquette-Hoffman (jduquettehoffman@middlebury.edu). We look forward to hearing from you!

Not Sure the Fair is the Right Venue for You?

Not sure you have a specific volunteer role to share, but want to connect with students and staff at the College? We can help with that as well!

The Middlebury College Center for Community Engagement (CCE) can work with you to identify opportunities and connections that are most appropriate for your work and your goals!
