Spring 2021, Students

Hello Febs!

I hope that you had a lovely week! I wanted to reach out with some reminders on upcoming deadlines, and updates on how to stay in touch as we approach the holidays.

Nelnet

The last day to enroll in a payment plan for the spring semester via Nelnet is tomorrow, December 15. More information about payment options can be found here.

Planning for Arrival

We know that many of you are starting to think about your arrival on campus in February. More information will be shared in our Spring 2021 Campus Guide, but here are a few important details to assist in your planning:

  • When to Arrive: We anticipate that all incoming students will arrive on campus Sunday, February 21. If you are purchasing airline tickets, we recommend you consider travel insurance or changeable tickets, if possible.
  • Who Can Travel to Middlebury With You: While current Vermont guidance specifies that two visitors may accompany a student on their arrival day, we are encouraging students to bring only one guest when possible. If families traveling long distances require two drop-off guests to enable safe driving, one guest should remain in the vehicle while on campus. Students must report immediately to the COVID-19 testing center at Virtue Field House. We ask that families remain with their vehicles while students are being tested. Unfortunately, we are not able to allow move-in day guests to enter the residence halls.
  • Transportation to Campus: We anticipate that the Student Government Association will be sponsoring bus transportation to campus from Burlington International Airport; Penn Station, New York and White Plains, New York; Ridgewood, New Jersey; Boston, Massachusetts; and Hookset, New Hampshire. The buses will be ticketed for 50% capacity to allow for physical distancing. Students will need to purchase tickets through the Box Office, and we will share details about how to sign up in a separate communication. You may view this link to get a general idea of what transportation will look like.

First Year Seminar Booklet

On Monday, December 21, you should receive an email with the First Year Seminar Spring 2021 Booklet, a useful guide to understanding the foundational course in your first semester as well as other important academic detailst.

Connecting with Us

We will be out of the office from December 22 through January 4. If you have questions, please contact us before then, or we will be back in touch in January.

Your Middlebury Email

Now is a good time to start logging into your Middlebury email account and checking it more frequently. Your Midd email account is the primary channel through which the College and its many offices will communicate with you. At this point, checking it at least a few times a week will provide you with timely access to essential information about preparing for course selection, arrival requirements, and Orientation.

Have you checked out our orientation Instagram page yet? Follow us @MiddOrientation. Every week before your arrival on campus, we will have Tuesday Takeovers where current Midd students will introduce you to campus organizations and initiatives that they are passionate about.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us via orientation@middlebury.edu. Be sure to check the Pre-Arrival Checklist for upcoming deadlines.

Take care,
