Freedom Dreaming: Envisioning an Antiracist Middlebury
Freedom Dreaming: Envisioning an Antiracist Middlebury, is a theatre project that begain with a question: “What would an antiracist Middlebury look like, sound like, feel like in an academic setting?”
From there, a team of student researchers led by Charice Lawrence ‘23 conducted interviews with (primarily) BIPOC students across the campus. The play is based on these interviews. We offer the production today as an act of love. We hope to push everyone to dream and work for a world that could be but is not yet.

Rhinoceros
The Theatre Department presents Rhinoceros by Eugene Ionesco, adaptation by Martin Mooney, directed by Jay Dunn.
The citizens of an anywhere small-town-USA gradually turn into rhinoceroses until they have become a faceless and savage herd. All of them that is, except for Bérenger, who refuses to relinquish his humanity. In this dark comic vision of civilization run amok, Ionesco depicts the struggle of the individual to maintain integrity and dignity alone in a world where all others have succumbed to the thrill of brute force and the mindlessness of the mob.

Pineapple Bun Baking Workshop
Dim Sum is a range of small Chinese dishes that are traditionally enjoyed at tea houses for brunch. Dim Sum means “to touch the heart” in Chinese. It describes people sharing a pot of tea while eating little comforting dishes. Originating in the Canton region, this course was created in order to satisfy the traders and travellers who would stop for rest and business. More than just food, dim sum needs to be enjoyed with good company and good conversation.
We plan to make pineapple buns in the first of our six part dim sum making series.
