  • What Happened at COP28? A re-cap conversation with Bill McKibben.

    Join us for a close up view of the UAE COP28 climate talks with Bill McKibben! The Conference of the Parties, or COP, is an annual international climate negotiation hosted by the United Nations. As a veteran observer and participant in COP and so many other global climate efforts, McKibben will share his thoughts on the significance of this year’s events, as well as what is on the horizon for 2024, and important opportunities for action. This is an in-person event only. Event will be recorded.

This informal meeting offers each group a platform to discuss their successes and challenges from the fall semester, along with outlining their plans for the upcoming year. The primary goal is to identify opportunities for collaboration and strengthen our collective impact.

  • Homelessness Awareness Day 2024 - Join the Honk-and-Wave!

    Addison County has a housing crisis. Market conditions, the lack of available housing for sale and rent, and the condition of our housing stock all contribute to what has become a deeply pressing issue for our community. The lack of housing not only affects those who are here and seeking a place to live, but it also prevents the community from attracting people to live and work here. The problem is complex, but it CAN be solved.

    On Thursday, January 18, we will gather over lunch to digest the Wednesday session with Arthur Chiaravalli. Even if you cannot attend on Wednesday, you are invited to come to lunch on Thursday and to share with us what you are seeing in our students and wondering about their needs. This lunch could also be an opportunity for folks to describe their different approaches to course design and assessment.

    Want to make some weird, beautiful art for a protest? SNEG is teaming up with Hearthunder Art Collective to host two art-builds in preparation for the cross-coalition climate justice mobilization in Montpelier on Jan. 27th. With guidance from Dan and Paul from Hearthunder, we’ll make signs, a banner, and masks. Email sng@middlebury.edu with any questions. We hope to see you there!
