  • Mindfulness Retreat with Prof. Emily Proctor

    Come take part in a half-day mindfulness retreat for students, led by Professor Emily Proctor.  We will learn and practice a variety of mindfulness activities tuned toward helping the mind connect with the body, all with the intention of deepening a sense of relaxed connection and relationship with the people and world around us.

    Nourishing snacks and warm drinks will be provided through the morning.  Register by January 25 at go/mindwithbody/

  • J-Club Crafts and Boats in Modern Japan with Douglas Brooks

    The Middlebury College J-Club has the extraordinary opportunity to invite traditional Japanese boat builder Douglas Brooks. Douglas Brooks has been working independently since 1990, building custom boats, designing and directing museum boat-building projects, writing about his projects, and researching historic boats and boat-building techniques. He is one of the few people alive today who hold this knowledge about Japanese Boat-building.

    The Dance Company of Middlebury, directed by Professor Lida Winfield is joined by several special guest artists:
    Artistic Director Sydnie L Mosley and six Creative Partners, including alumna Jessica Lee ‘13.
    SLMDances is a New York City based dance-theater collective that works in communities to organize for gender and racial justice.
    Professor Jeff Buettner’s Sing the World into Place Winter Term course.

    Join the J-Club as we present the anime screening, “Golden Kamuy” where Russo-Japanese veteran, Saichi Sugimoto is on a mission to locate the treasure of an indigenous group of Japan called the Ainu. Screenings will be focusing on Ainu culture, language, traditions, and provide history of the Ainu people living in Japan.
