  • Holistic Futures Circles

    Last year’s “Dreaming Into Being” Circles with Carolyn Finney and Sophia Calvi invited Midd community members to question: what is the world we want to live in? How can we cultivate a stronger sense of connection to self, each other, and the planet? This year, Carolyn, Sophia, and Tara Federoff are reviving these circles to continue our conversation and exploration into what holistic sustainability really means in the world that we live in today and what better, more just, and holistic futures look like.

    Beginning/Intermediate BALLET with Barbara Doyle-Wilch

    Ballet returns to the Dance Department this fall. Classical Ballet technique in traditional ballet class structure.
    No pointe shoes, please.
    Each session is open to a maximum of 20 participants.
    PE credit is available for attendance at 8 classes. Previous dance experience in any form is recommended.

    Crossfit Middlebury hosts 1 hour workouts open to all students. Crossfit is “constantly varied, high-intensity functional movement” — a mix of gymnastics, weightlifing, and cardio.   • MiddHumanists: The Virtues of Idleness

    Join The Scott Center’s Affiliate Humanist Chaplain, Prof. Bill Vitek, for a conversation about the value of embracing idleness. We’ll be discussing a short (3-page) article by Arthur Brooks, “How to Embrace Doing Nothing,” that appeared in The Atlantic.  Cider and goodies will be served. All are welcome.

We will hold trainings, informational sessions, and other activities for the club, learning and practicing skills on the topic of emergency medical services, firefighting, and general first response.     Special Collections’ newest exhibit features 100 years of pop-up books from the fanciful to the functional, from science textbooks to fairy tales. The exhibit is installed in Davis Family Library on the Main Level.
