  • Mariupol: The People's Story - Screening followed by a Q&A with producer Hilary Andersson

    This Emmy and Peabody award winning film is the deeply personal story of the destruction of a modern European city, told and filmed by the people of Mariupol, Ukraine. It is a story of war crimes and suffering but also a story of amazing courage, incredible daring in escape and of undaunted spirit.

    SLMDances is a New York City based dance-theater collective that works in communities to organize for gender and racial justice.
    Professor Jeff Buettner’s Sing the World into Place Winter Term course.
    Music created by Professor’s McLean Macionis and Matthew Taylor and Lighting design by Bert Crosby.

    Hirschfield Thursdays presents: Stonewalling.

    20 year-old Lynn is told she needs English classes, flight attendant school, and a go-getter attitude. She perseveres along this path of upward mobility until she finds out she’s pregnant. Indecisive and running out of time, she tells her boyfriend she’s had an abortion and instead returns to her feuding parents and their failing clinic to try and figure out (if she can) what’s next.

    United for Ukraine 2024

    A Beneficiary Showcase of Ukrainian Resilience through Art

    This third annual event celebrates the culture and resilience of the nation of Ukraine with music, poetry, film, and more.  Featuring the New York Crimean Tatar Ensemble, with a parade of performances by the Middlebury College Choir, the student band Chapel Hill, Middlebury College’s Ukrainian students, and other special guests. Admission is free, and information about donating to Ukrainian relief organizations will be provided.

  • Film Screening: "Human Flow" by Ai Weiwei

    Over 65 million people around the world have been forced from their homes to escape famine, climate change and war in the greatest human displacement since World War II. “Human Flow,” an epic film journey led by the internationally renowned artist Ai Weiwei, gives a powerful visual expression to this massive human migration. The documentary elucidates both the staggering scale of the refugee crisis and its profoundly personal human impact. All are welcome at this free event.
