Wright, Kai. There Goes the Neighborhood. https://www.wnycstudios.org/podcasts/neighborhood/season-one. Accessed 19 Jan. 2021.

Full disclaimer, I’ve listened to this series before, but given the state of the world and a new wave of people fleeing cities, I wanted to revisit this excellent podcast from WNYC. Hosted by Kai Wright, who you may know from United States on Anxiety, the first season of There Goes the Neighborhood takes listeners on a deep dive into the complexities of gentrification in New York neighborhoods, particularly East New York. While not explicitly about race, American gentrification cannot be separated from racial inequities. My favorite takeaway is that no matter who you are or where you live, you become part of the neighborhood you live in, so say hello, get to know the people who live near you and engage in your community.  Recommended for people who enjoy investigative reporting and shows like: Throughline, Nice White Parents, Code Switch or Reveal.
