Ideal for teachers of English and American literatures, as well as for those who want to study these subjects without the intent to teach, the Bread Loaf School of English meets each summer for a six-week residential program.

Bread Loaf holds sessions at our scenic and storied Ripton, Vermont, campus; on the campus of St. John’s College in Santa Fe, New Mexico; and at Oxford University in England. Founded in 1920, Bread Loaf attracts some of the nation’s finest faculty for literature, creative writing, literacy and pedagogy, and theater arts. The Bread Loaf master’s degrees can be earned over four to five summers.
