Middlebury requires all enrolled students to be covered by a health insurance plan.

Through a partnership with Gallagher Student Health, we provide students with the option to purchase comprehensive student health insurance if they will not be covered by another plan. Only active students currently registered for classes at Middlebury are eligible to enroll in the Gallagher Student Health insurance plan. Should a student withdraw from Middlebury for medical reasons after the start of the semester, they may be eligible to remain covered by the insurance.

2020–2021 Health Insurance Information

In July 2020, students will receive an email sent to their Middlebury email accounts from Gallagher with instructions for how to enroll in or waive enrollment in the 2020–2021 student health insurance plan option.

  • The cost of the annual 2020–2021 plan is $2,580.
  • Coverage starts on August 15, 2020, and ends on August 14, 2021.
  • The deadline to enroll is September 30, 2020.
  • A charge for the health insurance will be applied to the student account during the first week of October.

All students enrolled at Middlebury are eligible to purchase the insurance even if they are not living on campus.

For returning students who are re-enrolling in the Gallagher insurance, please note that student ID cards with student insurance information will only be available at www.wellfleetstudent.com or via the new Wellfleet app. Also, Wellfleet is the new insurance carrier and Wellfleet Rx is the new prescription benefit manager.

Waiving Enrollment

Students who waive enrollment for the fall semester are eligible to enroll for the spring semester only. Should a student need the insurance for the fall 2020 semester only, the cost is $1,202 and is effective August 15, 2020, to January 31, 2021. The spring 2021 semester insurance is effective February 1, 2021, to August 14, 2021, and has a cost of $1,378.
