Trouble finding open seats?

  1. From the Banner 9 home page, select Browse Classes.
  2. Choose the appropriate term.
  3. You can search by subject, or just click the Search button to see all courses.
  4. View the status column. Red text indicates course is full. If seats are available, the number of open seats are provided.
  5. Check the Reserved Seats column to the right. This will show you if the seats open are reserved for new incoming first year students.

Step 3: Register for Classes   


Be sure to check the prerequisites for the courses in your proposed schedule; prerequisites are shown in the course description in the online catalog (select Middlebury College). 

Important Information about Prerequisites

If you are meeting a prerequisite through AP, be sure your score has been recorded by checking your record in BannerWeb. If it is not there, you will need to receive an override from the department prior to registration. 

If you are meeting a prerequisite with other high school work, transfer credit, or through IB or A-Levels, you will need to receive an override in order to register online.

Registering for Labs, Drills, and Screenings

Some courses have required labs, drills, or screenings which you must register for when you add the course. Watch for these companion sections and make room for them in your schedule.

Quick Overview

There are two ways to register for classes: from a plan or by CRN. You can use either option or a combination of both options as you build your schedule.

Register from a Plan

  • Navigate to the Banner Registration
  • Click Register for Classes
  • Select Registration Term
  • Click on the Plans tab
  • Identify your plan and click Add All
  • Click Submit

Register by CRN

  • Navigate to the Registration Module
  • Click Register for Classes
  • Select Registration Term
  • Click on the Plans tab
  • Click on the Enter CRNs tab
  • Enter CRNs for all courses and labs/discussions
  • Click add to summary
  • Click submit
