For students interested in living on campus over the summer, we offer limited summer student worker housing.

Over the summer most of the residence halls are utilized to house the Language School programs. Residential Life offers limited summer student worker housing for students completing in-person summer research, an approved internship through the CCI, or those employed by the College through Human Resources. Students employed doing remote work may request housing, but priority will go to students engaged in in-person programs. Other students requesting summer housing will be housed based on availability.

Summer in Vermont is beautiful and the campus is alive with Language School students. Please note that Language Schools have priority over space and English is not allowed in many areas of campus.

Summer Housing Dates

Students on campus for summer programs are allowed to move in any weekend starting with June 7-8, 2025. Summer housing ends on August 17, 2025.

Most students should expect to move completely out of their spring rooms and return for their summer programs on one of the above arrival dates. There is no campus storage available and students are responsible for moving completely out of their spring rooms.

Students that have programmatic needs starting before June 7 will need specific permission to either move in earlier or stay in their spring room until their summer room is ready. Staying through to summer housing after the residence halls close at the end of final exams is extremely limited and programs must have approval from both Residential Life and the overseeing department (Undergraduate Research, CCI internship, Student Employment Office, etc.).

Summer housing ends on August 17, 2025 and students are expected to fully move out of their summer rooms and leave campus until Fall move-in begins. Special consideration to remain on campus will be given to students who are employed through the start of classes as “early return” employment for the College, and those that truly cannot travel home (international students as an example). Employment must be confirmed through the Student Employment Office.

Application

Students should pay attention to their Middlebury email as they will be notified when the summer housing application is available in their housing portal, which is typically in early April.

Cost

Summer housing fees are assessed on a weekly basis and weeks run from Sunday to Saturday. Partial weeks will be charged at the full weekly rate.

Summer housing costs are based on financial aid eligibility, as determined by the Office of Student Financial Services as follows:

  • The weekly housing and services fee for students who received need-based grants or scholarships during the 24-25 academic year is $100/week.
  • The weekly housing and services fee for students who did not receive need-based grants or scholarships is $145/week.

Students who have questions about their financial aid eligibility, please contact Student Financial Services directly (sfs@middlebury.edu).

Dining

Students have the option to sign up for a summer meal plan and should be in touch with Dining Services with any questions. Students are not required to have a meal plan, but if you would like to sign up for one you may do so in the housing application. Students are responsible for their own meals when dining halls are closed (and if they are not selecting a meal plan).
