Housing Dates
Important dates related to move in, move out, and break periods on campus. Middlebury is not able to accommodate early arrivals or late stays unless students are part of an approved program. Please plan arrival and departure accordingly.
Fall Term
Move In
- Incoming Student Move-In (First Years, Transfer and Exchange Students): Wednesday, September 9th, 2026
- Students will check in at their assigned building (First Years) or assigned check in station (Transfer/Exchange Students).
- Returning Student Move-In: Saturday, September 12th, 2026- Sunday, September 13th, 2026
- Halls open at 9am on Saturday, September 12th and students can move in any time after that. Students will need to check in at Axinn Hall.
Break Periods
- Thanksgiving Break: Friday, November 20th, 2026, at 2pm- Monday, November 30th, 2026, at 8:15am
- Residence Hall are open during this break period. Students planning to remain on campus must fill out the Thanksgiving Break Application.
- Winter Break: Monday, December 21st, 2026, at 10:00pm- Monday, January 4th, 2027, at 8:15am
- Residence Halls close during winter break and approval is required to remain on campus. Approval is limited and students must apply by filling out a Winter Break Application.
- Students who will not be on campus for Winter and/or Spring term are not eligible to apply for Winter Break and must be moved out by the time halls close on Tuesday, December 22nd.
Move Out/Hall Closing
- Residence Halls Close for Winter Break: Tuesday, December 22nd, 2026, at 12:00pm (Noon)
- All students are required to leave campus within 24 hours of their last final, and no later than 12pm on Tuesday, December 22nd. Please make your travel plans accordingly.
Winter Term
Move In
- Residence Halls Open for Winter Term: Saturday, January 2, 2027, at 9am
- Arrival before this time will not be permitted as the residence halls are closed. Unapproved early arrivals will result in conduct charges and/or fines, so please plan travel accordingly.
Break Periods
- February Break: Friday, January 29th, 2027, at 4pm- Monday, February 8th, 2027, at 8:15am
- Residence Hall are open during this break period for students who were on campus for Fall and/or Winter term AND will be on campus for Spring term. Students planning to remain on campus must fill out the February Break Application.
- Students who will not be on campus for Spring term are not eligible to apply for February Break and must be moved out by
- Students moving in for Spring term are not approved to be on campus during February break (see spring move in date below).
Move Out
- Students Not on Campus for Spring Term: Saturday, January 30th, 2027, by 12:00pm (Noon)
- Feb Graduates: Sunday, January 31st, 2027, by 12:00pm (Noon)
Spring Term
Move In
- Mid-Year Incoming Student Move In (Febs, Transfer and Exchange Students): Wednesday, February 3rd, 2027
- Residence Halls Open for Returning Students Moving to Campus for the First Time: Saturday, February 6th, 2027, at 9am
- Arrival before this time will not be permitted. Unapproved early arrivals will result in conduct charges and/or fines, so please plan travel accordingly.
Break Periods
- Spring Break: Friday, March 19th, 2027, at 2:00pm- Monday, March 29th, 2027, at 8:15am.
- Residence Hall are open during this break period. Students planning to remain on campus must fill out the Spring Break Application.
Move Out/Hall Closing
- Residence Halls Close and Non-Graduating Students Must be Moved Out (Including Those That Live with Graduating Seniors): Wednesday, May 19th, 2027, at 12:00pm (Noon)
- Students are required to leave campus within 24 hours of their last final, and no later than 12pm on Wednesday, May 19th, 2027. Please make your travel plans accordingly.
- Please note that February graduates hoping to stay for Senior Week are not automatically approved to stay through graduation and must sign up to be approved to stay. Please reach out to the Student Activities Office for more information about how to apply for Senior Week.
- Graduating Seniors Must be Moved Out: Sunday, May 23rd, 2027, by 6:00pm
*Due to the tight turnaround between closing and summer programs (Reunion, Language Schools), late departures will not be permitted so please plan travel accordingly. Unapproved late stays will result in conduct charges and/or fines.
