Technology

Wireless connections are available throughout the campus. Ethernet ports are also available in the Inn Lobby, Davison Library, and Apple Cellar (see below). IT staff are available to assist you with accessing your Middlebury College account, BLSE wi-fi, and printing. See also the Bread Loaf Technology Guide for the how-to’s of connecting at Bread Loaf.

The Apple Cellar, on the ground floor of Davison Library, serves as our computer center. A quiet, air-conditioned workspace, it has both Macs and PCs for your use.

BreadWeb

BreadWeb provides a digital contact point for our community. It gives you easy access to the campus newspaper (The Crumb) and events calendar. It also lists contact information for the Bread Loaf Vermont staff. Contact Tom McKenna if you need to set up your BreadWeb account.

Telephone Services

Bread Loaf campus does have cell service, though bars may be limited in some places. You can make local calls from a landline in the Inn lobby: dial 9, then area code and number. Outside callers can leave messages for you at the Front Desk. After hours, callers can reach you via Public Safety (802-443-5911) in cases of emergency.

Amenities

  • Laundry Facilities: Coin-operated washers and dryers are available on campus, in the laundry building behind the Inn. You’ll need quarters: the Front Desk can make change.
  • Campus Exercise Room (Barn East): To help support your wellbeing and health, equipment includes two elliptical trainers, two treadmills, and two stationary bikes. Hours TBA.
  • Campus Bookstore (Barn East): The Middlebury campus bookstore sells a selection of books by our faculty and speakers, along with “school” supplies, Bread Loaf-branded clothing, toiletries, and other necessaries. Hours TBD.
  • Transportation to Town: The Front Desk runs a daily shuttle to Middlebury, in the morning and afternoon. You can sign up at the Front Desk.
  • Parking: Parking is available in the big lot in front of the Barn. Please do NOT park along Route 125, except when loading/unloading.

Recreation

The Bread Loaf campus is located near walking trails, lakes, and ponds; we offer weekend excursions to some of the best. You can play volleyball, Bocce ball, croquet, ultimate frisbee, and tennis on campus and use our small exercise room. You also have access to Middlebury College facilities, including the gym, indoor track, Olympic pool, and (for a fee) golf course.
