2019 Trip
Washington DC: Impacting Social Policy in Changing Times
March 23–March 30, 2019
The group met with representatives from a wide range of both faith-based and secular NGO’s across the political spectrum. Our goal was to look at how policy is formed and influenced, particularly in the area of economic justice.
This was a unique opportunity to meet and speak with people who held similar or very different social views than us, as we learned to speak across difference and gain perspective in a rapidly changing political landscape.
We met with organizations such as the following:
- American Friends Service Committee (Quaker)
- Catholic Relief Services
- Bread for the World
- American Enterprise Institute
- Religious Action Committee of Reform Judaism
- Young Evangelicals for Climate Action
In addition, students participated in hands-on community service.
