Leadership education and development are central components of the Student Engagement Office’s work. This work provides opportunities for students to develop the knowledge and competencies required for effective leadership in a range of settings and contexts.
Student Organization Leader Training
The Student Organization Leader Training offered every spring and many falls, serves new incoming student organization Presidents and Treasurers. Participants gain expertise in budgeting, event planning and conflict resolution, among many other topics. The training equips org leaders to handle their responsibilities while also maintaining healthier work-life balance.
Highlight: Launch of the Peer Conflict Coaching Program
The Peer Conflict Coaches program launched in AY 25/26 year, with office hours and campus outreach beginning in the spring term. Through a combination of education, engagement, and community-building initiatives, Peer Conflict Coaches served as visible resources across campus by visiting classrooms, hosting information tables, facilitating community-building circles, and partnering with the Engaged Listening Project. The coaches met weekly to strengthen their skills, build community within the cohort, and deepen their understanding and application of restorative practices, equipping them to support constructive dialogue and healthy conflict resolution throughout the campus community.
