formerly Introduction to Thematic Cartrography
This course introduces principles and practices for representing and visualizing spatial information. Lab exercises provide applied problems that illustrate conceptual issues discussed in lecture and readings. In lab work, students will use graphics software and geographic information systems (GIS) to design maps and graphics for problems in the human and physical sciences, planning, and environmental management. Major topics will include principles of graphic design, thematic mapping, interface design, 3D and animation.
