What about a gap year?
Middlebury supports the idea of taking time off between high school and college, because students can benefit in many ways from a break in the rigors of formal study. This pause allows them to engage other pursuits and interests. Students who are admitted to Middlebury and wish to defer their admission for one year should contact us by e-mail with an official request. Once approved, we will hold a place for you in next year’s class (we ask that you do so no later than June 1st for purposes of enrollment management). If you are considering taking a gap year before enrolling at Middlebury and would like to discuss your decision with one of us, feel free to contact the Admissions Office to talk with an admissions officer—we’d be happy to discuss your decision with you.
