A Leap Forward for Squash
The facility will feature nine courts—nearly double the number in the Bubble—as well as men's and women's locker rooms, coaches' offices, and spectator seating. With skylights over the spectator area and a glass wall facing northeast over Kohn Field and the mountains, the facility will take advantage of views and natural light
Benefits for All
Middlebury has exceptionally good varsity squash teams, but the Bubble has only five courts, and Middlebury has one coach for both the men's and women's teams, so it's a challenge to schedule sufficient practice time. With more courts and a new facility, the College will be able to schedule more tournaments at home. There will also be more access to courts for recreational squash players.
Teams on the Move
The Middlebury College women’s squash team finished the 2011–12 season ranked 11th nationally after competing in the Kurtz Cup (B Division) at nationals hosted by Harvard. The Panthers finished third overall among Division III schools, 11th overall nationally, and were voted the most improved team in the nation.
The Middlebury men’s squash team finished the season ranked 14th nationally. The Panthers were third seed in the Hoehn Cup (B Division) at Nationals hosted by Princeton.
