Middlebury Language School Graduate Programs

Additional Requirements for the French School Graduate Program

In addition to the general application requirements, applicants to the French Graduate Program must complete the following:

Online Language Assessment

Once we have received your application and the $75 application fee, the French School will email you instructions for the online assessment.

Submission of the online assessment must be completed before your application will be reviewed for an admissions decision.

French School MA and DML candidates who have already completed their summer of candidacy need not take the online language assessment. However, we reserve the right to require you to take the language assessment again if it has been a significant amount of time since you last attended a French graduate session at Middlebury.

Poitiers Applications

MA candidates who have successfully completed their summer of candidacy on the Middlebury campus may choose to spend one summer studying at our program in Poitiers, France. Please choose the application for 6-week graduate studies, summer only, and then choose Poitiers as the site.

Applicants for the year abroad must also have a passport that is valid for at least six months after the end date of the program.

Financial aid for the abroad program is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis for qualified applicants.
