  • Math Puzzles with Hats and Lockers

    A talk by Professor Peter Schumer, in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Light refreshments will be provided. Talk description: Logic conundrums and brain teasers are nearly as old as mathematics itself. Some classic math puzzles involve liars and truth tellers, scales with a limited number of weighings, vessels holding various amounts of liquid, and river crossings with jealous spouses. In this talk we’ll discuss several variations on some colored hat puzzles plus a probabilistic problem involving numbered lockers. All are welcome to join us!

  • Holistic Futures Circles

    Last year’s “Dreaming Into Being” Circles with Carolyn Finney and Sophia Calvi invited Midd community members to question: what is the world we want to live in? How can we cultivate a stronger sense of connection to self, each other, and the planet? This year, Carolyn, Sophia, and Tara Federoff are reviving these circles to continue our conversation and exploration into what holistic sustainability really means in the world that we live in today and what better, more just, and holistic futures look like.

    Please join MiddVotes and The Rohatyn Center for Global Affairs program on Global Trends in Autocracy and Democracy for a screening of “ALL IN: The Fight for Democracy” followed by a discussion with Professor Bert Johnson. The film examines the history, prevalence and effects of voter suppression in the United States through the lens of those impacted.

    Open to the entirety of the Middlebury First Responders Club. We will hold trainings, informational sessions, and other activities for the club, learning and practicing skills on the topic of emergency medical services, firefighting, and general first response. Topics will vary from week to week.

    This Pre-Health Info Session with Hannah Benz and Mary Lothrop is designed to help prospective candidates determine when/how to be most competitive in the medical school application process.

    This session will emphasize AAMC competencies, how to articulate your ‘why,’ and strategies for identifying strong individual letters of recommendation.
