  • An Excursion in Number Theory

    Along with geometry, number theory is one of the oldest and most revered areas of mathematics. Topics that are often studied in an elementary number theory course include triangular numbers, squares, and the Fibonacci sequence. Later topics include continued fractions and a class of equations called Pell’s equation.

    “Mechanisms of preference diversity: From genes by environment to behavior “

    Picking a mate is a key biological process across a wide range of species, and animals exhibit great diversity in what traits they use during the mate selection process and what they find attractive. Here, the Westerman lab uses a range of genetic, developmental, and behavioral techniques to uncover mechanisms driving mate preference diversity, using butterflies as a model system.

    Middlebury Climbing Competition

    Middlebury Climbing Competition is on Friday, October 25th!! From 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., the comp will be open to ALL STUDENTS, so come climb as many problems as you can in that time frame! 8:00 - 9:00 p.m. will be the finals, where the top competitors will attempt some climbs in the cave. 

    There will be snacks, collaging, maybe even some partner climbs…Come support your friends and give some climbs a try–there is no requirement regarding experience to participate. 

     Bring your stoke, bring your friends, and have a good time!
