This will be an open information session to discuss educational opportunities at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (MIIS). Brandon McNiece, of MIIS recruiting will be on hand with professor Orion Lewis to discuss undergraduate opportunities, accelerated MA degrees, the full range of Institute degree offerings and opportunities, as well as scholarships and financial incentives.

Description: The Health Professions and STEM team is excited to welcome a panel of recent Middlebury College medical school applicants back to campus. Come hear about the application process from students who just went through the cycle. Ask them questions about the interview process (traditional and Multiple Mini Interviews or MMI) and find out what they wish they had known before applying to medical school.

Victor Diaz is a leader from Migrant Justice and will come to campus to speak about his experience in VT as a migrant worker.

Join female students, faculty/staff, townspeople, and alumnae in a College-wide discussion on the role of women in 2018. Modeled after a “Lean In Circle,” we will discuss whether women need to lean in to the workplace or if opting out is a better solution for today’s feminists. We invite women from all generations and backgrounds to join this conversation so that we may have a range of perspectives – networking encouraged too! Light refreshments will be provided.

Anna Ogorodnikova will talk about Lake Baikal (the deepest and the oldest lake in the world), protected areas around the lake, its current environmental problems (logging, overfishing, eutrophication, etc.) and the work of local non-profits to solve or mitigate some of these problems. Anna is the director of the Baikal Interactive Eco-Center, an NGO based in Irkutsk, Russia. She teaches a course on Lake Baikal ecology to students studying at the Middlebury C.V. Starr School Abroad in Irkutsk. She also builds hiking trails in the Baikal region.
