Reapplying for Financial Aid
If you are a student who receives financial aid from Middlebury, you will need to reapply each academic year.
As a returning student, please reapply for financial aid by April 1. The Office of Student Financial Services will begin to release returning student financial aid offers in June and will continue into July. You will not receive your financial aid offer until all requested information has been provided. Middlebury verifies the financial aid application of every undergraduate student applying for aid.
Tip: Be sure to monitor your Middlebury email. The Office of Student Financial Services sends missing information emails to students notifying them of any additional documents needed to complete their financial aid file.
Application Deadline
The financial aid application deadline for returning students is April 1.
Application Requirements
U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens must complete the following:
- College Board CSS Profile
- Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) - See About the FAFSA below for information on changes to the form and application process for the 2024-2025 year.
- After completing the CSS Profile, submit the information below as requested via College Board IDOC
- Parent 2022 federal tax returns with all schedules, including business tax returns if applicable
- All parent 2022 W-2’s, even if they did not file taxes
- Parent Non-Filing Statement (available on IDOC) if your parent did not or is not required to file taxes
- Verification Worksheet (available on IDOC) if your FAFSA is selected for federal verification
- Any additional information as requested by Middlebury College
Canadian applicants must complete the following:
- College Board CSS Profile
- Submit parent 2022 federal and provincial tax forms and T-4s as requested via College Board IDOC
- Any additional information as requested by Middlebury College
International applicants must complete the following:
- College Board CSS Profile
- Any additional information as requested by Middlebury College

- The FAFSA is free - there is no cost to submit the FAFSA
- Middlebury’s FAFSA School Code is 003691
- Required for federal financial aid
- Financial aid eligibility for 2024-2025 is based on income information from tax year 2022
- You must meet certain requirements to qualify for federal student aid
About the College Board CSS Profile
- There is a fee to submit the CSS Profile if you do not qualify for a Fee Waiver directly from the College Board
- Middlebury’s CSS Profile School code is 3526
- Required for institutional need-based aid
- Middlebury does not accept the ISFAA form or a paper copy of the CSS Profile
About College Board IDOC
- Use IDOC to submit tax information and other required documents, after you have submitted your CSS Profile

- Middlebury College uses IDOC for a secure way to submit sensitive financial information
- Do not email documents requested via IDOC to the Office of Student Financial Services, as data included in email is not secure
Federal Verification
Some students who file the FAFSA are also selected for verification through the FAFSA process, as indicated on your Financial Aid Summary.
Middlebury College will collect and process the documentation required to verify the student’s FAFSA information. Students will not receive their financial aid offer until all required forms have been submitted and reviewed.
Satisfactory Academic Progress
All students receiving federal financial aid are required to maintain satisfactory academic progress. The Satisfactory Academic Progress policy is in place to ensure that students are completing enough credits each year in order to complete the degree within a reasonable time frame. As long as you meet the academic standards expected of all Middlebury students, you will remain eligible to receive financial aid.
