Student Health Insurance

Through a partnership with Gallagher Student Health, we provide students with the option to purchase comprehensive student health insurance if they will not be covered by another plan. Only active students registered for classes at Middlebury are eligible to enroll in the Gallagher Student Health insurance plan. All students actively enrolled at Middlebury are eligible to purchase the insurance even if they are not living on campus. 

2023–2024 Student Health Insurance Plan

In mid-June 2023, students enrolled for the fall semester will receive an email to their Middlebury email account from Gallagher with instructions for how to enroll in or waive enrollment in the 2023–2024 student health insurance plan by October 2. To enroll or waive coverage, follow the instructions in the email to complete the decision form. Please contact Student Financial Services at sfs@middlebury.edu if you need the Gallagher information resent to your Middlebury email. Students who waive enrollment for the fall semester are eligible to enroll for the spring semester.

In mid-November 2023, Feb students and students returning to the College for the spring semester will receive the email from Gallagher with instructions for how to enroll in or waive enrollment in the spring student health insurance plan by February 29. To enroll or waive coverage, follow the instructions in the email to complete the decision form.  Please contact Student Financial Services at sfs@middlebury.edu if you need the Gallagher information resent to your Middlebury email.

Plan Costs and Coverage Dates

• The cost of the annual 2023–2024 plan is $3,322. Annual plan coverage starts on August 15, 2023, and ends on August 14, 2024. 
• Should a student need the insurance for the fall 2023 semester only, the cost is $1,543 and the coverage is effective August 15, 2023, to January 31, 2024.
• The spring 2024 semester insurance coverage is effective February 1, 2024, to August 14, 2024, at a cost of $1,779.

A charge for the health insurance will be applied to the student’s Middlebury bill within 1-2 weeks after their enrollment in the plan.
