A Day in the Life
Bread Loaf’s campuses, courses, activities, and community offer endless possibilities for expansion and development. See how these Bread Loafers spend a typical day at our Vermont campus.
Angela, MA candidate
Angela, a teacher from New York City, first attended Bread Loaf through a special partnership between Bread Loaf and the Academy for Teachers. After her initial summer, she decided to continue at Bread Loaf and earn her MA. Angela is now a Bread Loaf Teacher Network (BLTN) fellow.
Roddy, MA candidate
In summer 2023, MA candidate Roddy took two classes, one of which - Performance and Dramaturgy - met in the evenings during rehearsals for the summer’s production of Shakespeare’s Tempest. Roddy took advantage of the openness of his schedule during the days, which gave him plenty of space for productive creation in both his writing and music. Roddy teaches at a private school where his life can be regimented with teaching on Saturdays, coaching, and other responsibilities, so his summer at Bread Loaf was a refreshing change and re-charging of his teaching energies.
Lauren MA '23
Lauren came to the Bread Loaf School of English through the Andover Bread Loaf Writing Workshop for Educators. The workshop offers one unit of Bread Loaf graduate credit to its participants, who spend two weeks focusing on critical literacy for social justice. Follow Lauren on a busy day during her graduating summer.
Himali, MA candidate
Follow MA candidate Himali as she embarks on her day at Bread Loaf. Besides writing on contemporary art and culture, Himali makes art inspired from literature and shows in museums, galleries, and abandoned spaces. In 2014, she completed a writer’s residency in Paris, and she recently earned an MFA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths, University of London. Here, she shares with us her daily routine during the summer.
