Online Program Information

All of us at BLSE look forward to the start of our 2025 session! The following information will help you prepare for the summer. 

Pre-Session To Do’s

  • Activate your Middlebury email account. Instructions are available in the Bread Loaf Technology Guide or via the Middlebury Helpdesk (802-443-2200 or helpdesk@middlebury.edu). During the session, we will use your middlebury.edu address for all BLSE communications.
  • JUNE 16 at 3 pm (EDT): attend a Zoom Orientation Session, led by BLSE director Lyndon Dominique, plus tech and library staff.
  • For students in Critical Writing Tutorials, do as much of the required course reading as possible. Our courses are fast-paced, and familiarity with the material will help you stay on track across the session. The course descriptions list required texts in the order that they will be studied. 

Academic Calendar

June 30 – August 5 Start/end dates for Critical Writing Tutorials and Directed Research and Writing. Your professor will be in touch with you before the session to arrange regular meeting times.

12 - 1 pm EDT		 Online Writing Cafés
July 14
3:30-4:30 pm EDT 		 Mid-session meeting with Lyndon Dominique
August 8-9  Commencement / Bread Loaf Vermont campus. Students studying in the online program this summer may graduate in person at the Vermont campus and may bring up to four guests. 
August 8
5 pm EDT 		 Reception, Bread Loaf Barn
August 9
11 am EDT
5 pm EDT		 Commencement Ceremony, followed by buffet lunch
