Beginner & Intermediate Tracks in Florence

The Middlebury School in Italy is now offering multiple linguistic points of entry for students interested in studying in Florence.

The Beginner and Intermediate tracks offer a unique opportunity for students to learn Italian while also taking area studies courses at the Middlebury Sede and/or at the nearby Università degli Studi di Firenze.  Studio Art courses are also available at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze (Intermediate students) and the Accademia d'Arte Firenze (Beginner students).  The Course instruction at the Sede will begin with a mix of English and Italian and will increase toward more content in Italian as the semester progresses.  Students will also take advantage of the Middlebury Language Pledge® to help jump-start their Italian language proficiency.

The Beginner track is designed for students with 0-1 years of college-level Italian (or the equivalent).  The Intermediate track is designed for students who have completed 1-1.5 years of college-level Italian (or the equivalent).  In all cases, students may complete an oral interview to demonstrate their qualifications.
