Middlebury is grateful to the many alumni, parents, and friends who make gifts to Middlebury College, the Language Schools, Bread Loaf School of English, and the Middlebury Institute each year.

Your gifts help to support every aspect of a Middlebury education and, through our students and graduates, they have an impact far beyond the Green Mountains and Monterey.

To honor your generosity, we’ve established the following Giving Societies, each with a particular focus:

Leadership Levels

Presidential Circle $100,000 or more
Old Chapel Fellows $50,000–99,999
College Luminaries $10,000–49,999
Dean’s List $2,500–9,999
Panther Society Graduated levels*

* The Panther Society offers specific membership levels for young alumni according to the number of years since graduation. One-year postgraduation is $100; nine years postgraduation is $900.

The 1800 Society

Members of the 1800 Society are among Middlebury’s most dedicated and generous alumni, parents, and friends. Each year, these individuals contribute more than 91 percent of the total dollars given to Middlebury. Gifts from 1800 Society members support everything Middlebury does—providing the means each year to sustain and expand academic programs, enhance student life, recruit accomplished faculty, develop programs, and increase financial aid.

Your annual 1800 Society gift places you within a select and valued Middlebury circle: those with both the ability and desire to support the College at a leadership level.

Benefits of Membership

To honor those partners who do so much to advance our mission, we offer the following:

  • Invitation to an annual on-campus 1800 Society member reception during Reunion Weekend
  • Special invitations to campus, regional, and online events
  • Access to a personal staff Liaison in the Office of Advancement

The TrueBlue Society

The TrueBlue Society honors those who have contributed to Middlebury for three or more consecutive years. Whether a gift is $10 or $10,000, consistent support helps to strengthen programs, explore new opportunities, and attract outstanding faculty—all necessary parts of an excellent Middlebury education.

TrueBlue Sustainers

We honor donors who make regular contributions to Middlebury through automatic deductions. TrueBlue Sustainers provide Middlebury with steady, reliable support that helps students pursue their interests and allows the College to flourish as a top liberal arts institution.

The Gamaliel Painter Cane Society

The Cane Society recognizes individuals who have demonstrated their commitment to Middlebury’s future by including the College in their estate plans. Members have included Middlebury in their wills, named the College to receive proceeds from life insurance policies and retirement plans, and established charitable life-income gifts to benefit Middlebury. All Cane Society members are invited to a special luncheon held during Reunion Weekend.
