Come for tasty food, camaraderie, and lively conversation about the post-tenure world at Middlebury. On the one hand, a major professional milestone has passed; on the other hand, committee work, chairing of departments, and a new level of professional commitments typically begins in earnest at this point.

  • Befriending Anxiety

Anxiety serves an important function, but our nervous system doesn’t always pick the right moment or know when to stop. Each week we will look at an approach to managing anxiety, such as mindfulness-based stress reduction, cognitive behavioral therapy or polyvagal theory. We will include exercises for settling down but also for staying alert, for when we want to feel calmer, but we have things to do.
