    The line between wellness and illness seems thick, well drawn, and impermeable. We believe ourselves, and others, to be firmly situated on one side or the other. But that is not true. We all come to realize this about physical illness. We come to realize that eventually it will touch and alter our lives, either through our own direct experience or that of a loved one. So, we begin to learn the language of cancer, of Alzheimer’s, of Parkinson’s. What of mental illness, though?

  • "Breaking Into Finance" with Expert-in-Residence Craig Thompson '13.5

    Are you a first-year or sophomore who is interested in a career in finance? Come meet Expert-in-Residence, Craig Thompson ‘13.5.

    Craig will address topics including:

    A field guide to navigating the recruiting process
    -How to get your first internship without any prior experience?
    -How big banks operate, and which divisions do what tasks? Which analyst jobs are more competitive and why?

    Preparation for technical interviews:
    -Why do we need valuation frameworks?
    -What is the difference between investing and speculation?

  • CrossFit Middlebury

    Crossfit Middlebury hosts 1 hour workouts open to all students. Crossfit is “constantly varied, high-intensity functional movement” — a mix of gymnastics, weightlifing, and cardio.     The Green Mountain Club’s Bread Loaf Section and the Environmental Studies program present a talk on “Living with Bears” by Vermont Fish and Wildlife Bear Technician, Molly Byrne, “Living with Bears” will help us better understand our ursine neighbors and provide general information about bear ecology and behavior with a focus on their life cycle and food needs.

    Open to the entirety of the Middlebury First Responders Club. We will hold trainings, informational sessions, and other activities for the club, learning and practicing skills on the topic of emergency medical services, firefighting, and general first response. Topics will vary from week to week.

    Special Collections’ newest exhibit features 100 years of pop-up books from the fanciful to the functional, from science textbooks to fairy tales. The exhibit is installed in Davis Family Library on the Main Level.

    The Writing and Rhetoric Program is hosting three lunch conversations about teaching writing this fall. You are welcome to join us whether you’re teaching a writing intensive class this semester or not. All lunches are on us! Simply charge them to WRPR at the Grille or Crossroads. We realize that due to teaching schedules, you may need to arrive late or leave early.
