We are excited to announce a change to our virtual desktop service. We will shortly be replacing Apporto with Microsoft’s Azure Virtual Desktop platform.

Middlebury has been using Apporto for virtual desktops since 2020. In the past several years, our overall utilization and needs have changed. Azure Virtual Desktop is a more appropriate solution for our current use case. We will be sunsetting Apporto on July 1, 2024. Please remove any data from Apporto prior to July 1.

Our new platform, Azure Virtual Desktop, is available for use now. It offers similar features to Apporto and many of the same software titles.

Azure Virtual Desktop can be accessed using a web browser via https://go.middlebury.edu/avd

Azure Virtual Desktop can also be accessed using the Microsoft Remote Desktop client on a Windows or MacOS computer.  Documentation on accessing virtual desktops is available via https://go.middlebury.edu/avd-docs/.

Please place requests to add new software titles to the Azure Virtual Desktop environment via the Helpdesk.

If you have comments, questions, or concerns about the change or need technical support, please contact the ITS Helpdesk.
